Trinidad & Tobago Facts
Trinidad & Tobago has rainforests, swamps and beaches. A third of the Carribbean’s coral reef is found in The Bahamas and Tobago has the largest brain coral in the world.
Steel drums were invented in Trinidad & Tobago in the 1930s and 1940s. They were originally made from discarded metal, such as frying pans, dustbin lids, hubcaps and oil drums.
The carnival is known for its bright, colourful costumes and unusual characters – such as a donkey riding character Burrokeet, Dame Lorraine and lots of stilt dancers and stick fighting!
Limbo originated in Tobago as a traditional folk dance and was mainly performed at sombre occasions! Now it’s envolved into a party game – how low can YOU go?
